Our Methodology — How We Evaluate Indonesia Luxury Yachts

Our Vetting Methodology

The Indonesia Luxury Yachts Seal of Approval

Not every yacht available for charter in Indonesia is featured on our platform. A vessel’s inclusion in our curated portfolio signifies that it has passed a comprehensive, multi-stage evaluation process. This methodology is our promise of quality, safety, and excellence. It is how we ensure that every charter booked through us meets the highest international standards, while being fully compliant with Indonesian law. Our commitment to compliance is further detailed on our Safety and Compliance page.

The Four Pillars of Our Evaluation

Our methodology is built on four key pillars, each with a detailed audit process conducted by a senior member of our team, typically our Director of Marine Operations.

1. Legal & Documentation Audit

Before we even step aboard, we conduct a thorough review of all essential paperwork. This is a non-negotiable first step to ensure the vessel is operating legally and safely within Indonesia.

  • Business & Tourism Licenses: Verification of the operating company’s SIUP-PARIWISATA (Tourism Business License).
  • Vessel Registration & Flag State: Confirmation of valid registration and seaworthiness certificates from the Indonesian Directorate General of Sea Transportation or relevant flag state.
  • Insurance Coverage: Proof of comprehensive hull, machinery, and P&I (Protection and Indemnity) insurance.
  • Crew Certification & Contracts: Audit of captain’s and key crew members’ licenses (e.g., STCW, Master 200/500 GT) and confirmation of legal employment contracts, including BPJS social security coverage.

2. Annual On-Site Physical Inspection

A member of our senior team physically inspects every single yacht in our fleet at least once a year. This is a hands-on, multi-hour inspection covering over 100 checkpoints. Our scoring rubric is as follows:

  • Safety & Emergency Equipment (35%): Condition and certification dates of life rafts, life jackets, EPIRB, fire suppression systems, flares, and first-aid kits. Functionality of navigation (radar, GPS, AIS) and communication (VHF, satellite phone) systems.
  • Technical & Mechanical Condition (30%): Inspection of engine room cleanliness, review of maintenance logs, assessment of generators, water makers, and HVAC systems.
  • Guest Experience & Comfort (25%): Condition of cabins, linens, and en-suite facilities. Quality and cleanliness of galley and common areas. State of water sports equipment (dive compressors, tenders, kayaks).
  • Housekeeping & Presentation (10%): Overall cleanliness, tidiness, and adherence to luxury presentation standards.

A yacht must achieve a minimum score of 85% to be listed or to remain on our platform.

3. Crew Vetting and Interview

A yacht is only as good as its crew. We personally interview the captain, cruise director, and chef of every vessel. We assess not only their professional qualifications but also their hospitality skills, local knowledge, and English proficiency. We seek crews who are not just sailors, but passionate ambassadors for Indonesia.

4. Continuous Feedback Loop

Our evaluation doesn’t end after the inspection. We actively solicit detailed, confidential feedback from every client post-charter. This real-world data provides invaluable insights into the crew’s performance, the vessel’s condition under charter, and the overall quality of the experience. Consistently poor feedback can trigger a re-inspection or removal from our platform.

Why This Matters

This rigorous, transparent methodology is our commitment to you. It ensures that when you book one of our Indonesia luxury yachts, you are choosing from the best of the best—vessels that are not only beautiful and luxurious but also safe, legal, and professionally operated.
